Since this is the first time I've done anything with digital painting, this took far longer than I expected it to. So it's... sort of a speedpaint. Minus the speed part. It's all on one layer, though! (Except the background, on accident) I've discovered a new love for the Smudge tool. Yes, indeed.
Um... so this... thing... was a dream for a while. It would start out in the distance and gradually get closer. I would never see it move, but it would slowly and surely close in. It looked ominous and putrid and dead - very disturbing, to be honest. But the most upsetting thing about it was that I would periodically wake myself up and drift back to sleep... only to have it waiting for me in my dreams. Needless to say, I slept very poorly those couple nights.
The verse at the top is something that just popped into my head as I sketched it the next day. (original sketch for the interested)
I used a lot of brushes with this piece. A big thanks to the brush artists here!
